Specialty coffee from Thailand? Yes, exactly! Our roasted Arabica coffee from Thailand is characterized by sweet, orangey notes. We visited the farm in person in January 2020 and were fascinated not only by the great coffee, but also by the beautiful landscape.
With all coffees, it is important for us to know exactly where the coffee comes from and how it is grown. But we can tell you a little more about this coffee. We were lucky enough to travel around Thailand for several weeks and found our way to the north, around Chiang Mai / Chiang Rai. And it was right up there, in the hills of northern Thailand, that we were able to get to know this coffee.
Doi Pangkhon is a village with around 300 households. All of them belong to the Akha ethnic minority. It is geographically located between Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai at around 1400 meters above sea level, in a beautiful hilly landscape. Almost all families grow coffee to earn a living. They then bring the coffee cherries to the processing station, which is run by the Merlaeku family. There the coffees are then processed (washed, dried, honeyed) and prepared for the next step, the dry-mill.
Flavor: Intensely fruity with medium roasted aromas.
